Sub Sea Hydraulic Bolt Tensioning Tools

Boltight manufactures standard and custom built tooling for sub sea use. The standard tool range incorporates a combined body and bridge, lifting eye bolt, 30 mm piston stroke, 1500 bar operating pressure, twin hydraulic connections, a maximum piston stroke indicator and a split reaction nut.

Lower cost solid reaction nuts are also available. These tools are fitted with the Boltight composite material high pressure seals which clip into place and require no adjustment.

All Boltight tools are assembled, filled with oil and pressure tested prior to despatch. They are also designed to conform to the European Pressure Equipment Directive and where required are CE marked. Boltight tools are supplied with a comprehensive Health & Safety Operating and Maintenance Instruction Manual.

Standard tools are fitted with two self sealing quick connectors. This can be either two nipples or one coupling and one nipple. Customer should specify when ordering.

Simultaneous Bolt Tensioning

This power pack is ideal for operating sub sea tooling offshore. The power pack has a large 15 litre stainless steel oil reservoir and frame.
The higher oil delivery, air driven hydraulic pump is mounted in a tubular steel transportable frame painted blue. The pack is supplied complete with, air inlet connector, air filter, air pressure regulator, air lubricator, air pressure gauge, air pressure limit valve, pump on/off control, oil reservoir, oil pressure release valve, oil pressure gauge, gauge guard, air/hydraulic pump and high pressure oil outlet through a self sealing quick connect coupling.
This is a higher oil flow rate pump designed for use with all Boltight 1500 bar tooling where speed of operation is essential. Especially useful when using multiple large tools.
Pumps for 1000 bar, 2000 bar and 2500 bar working pressures are also available.
Custom built power packs, with any number of outlets, to suit your existing tooling or with special features are available on request.

You should have read and understood tightening & loosening bolts before attempting to use multiple tools for simultaneous operation.
Simultaneous bolt tensioning may involve the use of any number of bolt tensioning tools from two to more than twenty, depending on the number of the bolts in the joint and the percentage of bolts to be tightened simultaneously. In flanged applications, BOLTIGHT strongly recommends simultaneous tensioning of 100% of the bolts.

The method for simultaneous tensioning is similar to tightening one bolt, but requires a number of additional operations. These simply involve the ganging of the tools together with flexible hydraulic hoses and tee blocks to construct a hydraulic main which will supply oil under pressure to all of the tools simultaneously.
The diagrams in this section show one way of connecting the tools for simultaneous operation.
The user may construct a hydraulic main to suit their circumstances. The hoses and tee blocks may be connected together in any combination as long as the end result is a hydraulic main which will supply oil to all of the bolt tensioning tools simultaneously.
